MarineSource Reach Tool — Extension Privacy Policy
This policy covers the MarineSource Reach Tool browser extension. It sits alongside the MarineSource Website Privacy Policy, which governs the marinesource.com website itself. Where this policy is silent, the Website Privacy Policy applies.
The extension is a productivity tool for MarineSource boat dealers. It takes a boat listing a dealer already owns on MarineSource and helps them republish it to the marketplaces and social platforms they choose. This policy describes exactly what the extension reads, what it sends off the device, and what it never does.
Single purpose
The extension exists to syndicate a dealer's own MarineSource boat listings to third-party marketplaces, and to generate print/PDF flyers from those listings. Every permission it requests serves that purpose.
What the extension accesses
MarineSource session cookie
The extension reads a small set of cookies scoped to marinesource.com
in order to confirm the dealer is signed in and to load their own listing data. These
cookies are stored locally in extension storage and are sent only to MarineSource.
They are never transmitted to any other party.
Boat listing data
When a dealer starts a syndication run, the extension loads that listing's data from the MarineSource API — description, specifications, price, photos, and contact details. This is data the dealer authored and already owns.
Page content on supported marketplaces
On the marketplace sites listed below, the extension reads and writes form fields in order to complete a listing on the dealer's behalf. It reads only the page it was asked to fill, and only while the dealer has started a run. It does not read page content on any other website.
Supported sites: Facebook and Facebook Marketplace, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, X/Twitter, ClassifiedAds, OnlyInBoards, BoatTrader, YachtCloser, BoatWizard (IMT), Craigslist, eBay, YATCO Boss, YachtBroker, and Canva.
Listing photo hosts (optional permission)
Listing photos can be hosted anywhere, so the extension asks for access to those specific image hosts at the moment it needs them. This is an optional permission that the dealer may decline; flyers still render if declined. The extension uses this access only to download the dealer's own listing photos.
What the extension sends off the device
| Destination | Data | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
marinesource.com |
Session cookie, listing id | Loading the dealer's own listing data |
marinesource.com (ClickStream) |
Fill-completion event, MarineSource user id, target platform, browser and OS, extension version | Product analytics |
| MarineSource extension backend | Same completion events, error reports (message, stack, target platform), dealer branding settings, saved flyer templates, MarineSource user id | Error triage, listing history badges, syncing the dealer's own templates and settings |
The extension backend is operated on MarineSource's behalf by its development service provider, under the same terms described in the "Sharing Information with Third Parties" section of the Website Privacy Policy. It processes this data only as directed by MarineSource.
Nothing is sent to any other third party. There are no advertising networks, no data brokers, and no third-party analytics SDKs.
What the extension never does
- It does not sell or transfer personal data to third parties.
- It does not use or transfer data for purposes unrelated to the single purpose above.
- It does not use or transfer data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
- It does not collect passwords, payment details, health, or financial information.
- It does not read browsing history, or the content of sites outside the supported list above.
- It contains no remotely-hosted code. All logic ships inside the extension package and is reviewable in the uploaded bundle.
Storage and retention
Session tokens, dealer settings, saved templates, and listing history are stored
locally via chrome.storage. Removing the extension deletes this local
data.
Events and error reports held on the extension backend are retained for 12 months and are scoped to the dealer's MarineSource user id. To request deletion of server-side data, contact privacy@marinesource.com.
Children
Consistent with the Website Privacy Policy, the extension is not directed to anyone under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the "Last updated" date and, where the change affects what data leaves the device, called out in the extension's Chrome Web Store release notes.
